Judge William Billy Priest lives in a very patriotic (Confederate) southern town. Priest plays a laid-back, widowed judge who helps uphold the law in his toughest court case yet. In the meantime, he plays matchmaker for his young nephew.
The story follows a woman who lives an orderly life in a religious community until her brother arrives. The leader of the community knows about their difficult upbringing and insists that they resolve their childhood trauma through the therapeutic rituals of the community. But a secret starts to surface which could prove disastrous.
